I like to call myself a “hands off” type of mom. I don’t like to hover over my children. Of course I’m always in the background and if they need help I’m there, but I let them dress themselves, wash themselves, and generally at least try to do as much as they can on their own. Nothing irks me more than watching a mom wipe her 4 year old’s mouth!
As far as discipline goes my kids know that I don’t negotiate and that I’m not afraid of punishing them. They know what’s expected of them and they are aware of the consequences.
I guess if I had to label my discipline and punishment style it would be “old school”.

Attachment parenting or “freestyle” — liberal, I suppose.

A little of everything. Quite liberal on some things, but “rule breaking” we turn into the “tough love” type.

I have a 13yr old daughter and I’ve been a SUCKER all her life. She was just recently grounded for the first time at age 13 2wks ago because she stayed at a friends house and I didn’t hear from her till 9pm the following night. I had the FN# to her friends house but no one answered all day and her cell FN was off. I was so pissed and worried at the same time that once I found out she was OK I grounded her *** which was a joke because we did things together during that time like go to a movie and shopping..I’m a total sucker but in a good way. I’ve always been a single parent and always being told what a good job I’ve done. She does have good morals, good grades and normally checks in with me, but she temporarily broke my trust and now everythings good again.
