There are too many rules from stupid politicians and do-gooders.
This is whey we have so much trouble on the streets now.
Punishment should be allowed by parents, teachers & police
Stop mollycoddling children - It does no good.

I think too many parents just don't give a damn where there kids are, what they eat, what they are wearing, if they sleep at night, and then some parents are soo afraid to spank there kids or reprimand them. They want to be their kid's buddy instead of a parent. Some parents are great, however. Parents learned from their parents how to treat their kids. Sure kids need to be shown love, but the right kind of love.

Some are doing a great job and we have come a long way from children should be seen and not heard. however there are parents out there who are dragging their children up but they simply don't know any better. My personal gripe is with those who think they are great parents and have never heard of effective discipline. They are friends not parents to their children. They are afraid to discipline and feel they have to praise constantly when doing so devalues that praise. they say things like, 'Don't do that, there's a good boy' when surely if he is doing 'that' he is not a good boy right then. I think children get too much and parents don't say and mean 'no' enough

With everything that is currently going on (Paedophiles everywhere!) Parenting is currently very difficult but too relax in some situations i think. Like some parents let their kids get away with murder such as tantrums in supermarkets etc. 23 years ago when i was born it wasn't like this and i wouldn't have dared do this as a child but i suppose with such a high number of single parents lots compensate by buying gifts for their children, my aunt does this with her son.

Parenting is succeeding because parents are no longer underestimating their children. They are seeing their capabilities and enrolling them in programs, sports, and higher education so they can really have a chance to soar rather than just, "be kids".
However, with all of this new found responsibility put on children, they are put to higher standards. With higher standards come less expected mistakes. Society wants better, teachers need better cooperation, parents want less embarrassment, Dr.'s give solutions in the forms of pills and the kid's rights to be "just kids" are taken away. Too many children are being diagnosed with ADHD, instead of having there actual needs met.
higher standards and over achievment- the success AND downfall of parenting. a doubled edged sword that only the best parents can balance.

What I think of the majority of parenting these days is that it isn't happening. People are not disciplining their children, they don't have rules or if they do, they don't enforce them. They let their kids go off doing who knows what and who knows where, from very young ages. They give their children everything, especially when they whine for it. The whole bloody world seems to be in a mess over how to raise children, they won't say no, they won't follow through, they give in to temper tantrums to save embarrassment and therefore ensuring there will always be a temper tantrum, rather than teaching their kids to behave in the first place. The lack of parenting these days is attrocious and it shows in the schools and sports that kids are in and in the workplace too. For example, my teens work in a fast food restaurnat and you wouldn't believe how many of thier coworkers, stand around talking, texting on thier phones and generally not doing their job...even one put his filthy shoes on the counter in front of customer (in a restaurnat) and cleaned the dirt off. They all get away with it...the bosses don't fire them, don't write them up...these people keep their jobs and keep getting paid and what is the results of all this...as their parents taught them by letting do whatever they want, the boss is also teaching them that they can do whatever they want.
