I Am Just Beginning To Research International Adoption. Which Countries Accept Single Parent Applicants?

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

I find the whole adoption “thing” like a massive maze of which I haven’t managed to find much information relevent to my own personal situation. I am 39 years old, single and looking at international adoption. I would love a hand to get me headed in the right direction. I am also considering going to live in my country of choice so I can adopt from there and am considering the Philippines.

Natalie.

Sunday, February 14th, 2010

I have recently started looking in to international adoption. I have friends who adopted from Guatamala and Vietnam. Although they would assist me in obtaining information on adopting I do not want to come right out and ask how much it cost them to adopt each child. Does anyone have any ideas how much you can plan on spending to adopt a child abroad

I know too families who have traveled to Guatamala and Vietnam to adopt. I never asked why they choose international adoption over adopting in the US. What Do You Think About International Adoption?

Saturday, December 19th, 2009

I am currently in the proces of adopting a child from China. Recently, there has been a lot of debate regarding international adoption. A lot of people ask why I am adopting from another country when there are kids here that need to be adopted. I feel the system in the US is too hard to deal with and that the adoptive parents do not have as many rights as the birthmother. She can decide to not terminate parental rights at any time. It should be her perrogative, but I don’t want to have a failed placement. That’s why I’ve chosen international adoption. What’s your opinion?

How Does The Federal Adoption Tax Credit Work With International Adoption?

Friday, December 18th, 2009

I know that we would need to spend the 11,000 or so in adoption expenses in order to get that matched in credit, but how does the tax credit actually work? If we fill out our taxes and we are getting a refund of say $500, do we get the credit on top of that or do we have to owe money in order to receive any of the credit?
