Sorry if it’s a dumb question I just get really curious about strange stuff like this and I wander over to parenting from time to time when trying to conceive is slow!
Thanks if you can fill me in

Ok, I might be worrying a little early (my kids are 3 and 5 yrs old) but I wonder how to parent kids when they get older
Because I know eventually the next step will be my older (and maybe younger too) kid will ask to sleep over at another kid’s house & after that who knows and the parenting tactics might fail with me because all of a sudden your kids are grown up (or think they are) and you can’t just hug them when they get a booboo or try to offer them your parental advice because they might think they’re old enough to be above it.
Anyways how do you think your parenting will change when your kids get older, or now that they actually *are* older? I am afraid that someday my kids will be too old to put them in timeout as a punishment for misbehaving and too old for me to just hug them and tell them an “ouchy” will go away.
So what do you do when your kids get older as far as parenting? I know we can’t stop time, but how does your parenting change as far as rules and such?

I see this an an argument in favor of adoption often. That babies need to be well taken care of and its a hard job, by choosing adoption, you’ll know your child is taken well care of….
How can someone say this? Can anybody prove this?

I live in America and I want to give my baby up for adoption, but I don’t want it to grow up in America. So far all I can find is information on Americans adopting babies from other countries when I want to do the opposite.

I’m pretty liberal when it comes to everything with parenting — EXCEPT education and dating, where I can be a hardass.
I’ve noticed, of my relatives, the ones who were loose about those two things with their kids ended up with teen pregnancies. They thought they could be friends with their kids. “My kid can tell me anything,” they’d brag. I’m much more reserved — I want to give the impression that there WILL be judgment should my kid get in with the wrong crowd.
When it comes to sex, should you be a friend to your kid or some stodgy hardass?

What I mean is, if the mother does not want the baby and wants to give the child up for adoption immediately after its born, does the father get any say so? Can the mother just give the baby up for adoption without the consent of the father? Just something that I wondered after seeing some questions on here.
Thanks in advance.

Apparently many working mothers are too busy these days to toilet train their children, and school teachers are ending up having to potty train 5 year olds. Obviously this is another example of women’s ‘liberation’ resulting is a mess that someone else has got to clean up, but do you know of other examples of feminism having a negative impact on parenting?

Like I hear people say that “that kid is just too smart.”
Or is it parenting skills that determine how smart someone becomes. Not just parenting skills but parents being ideal role models like parents who are always reading, always having intellectual conversations, parents who give weekly pep talks, etc. etc.
I’m a nice guy but I’m not the smartest guy in the world and I attribute it to my parents. They are not the smartest people themselves, they’re not the most hard working, stuff like that.
What do you think.

Does it count toward attachment parenting if a backpack carrier is used? A backpack carrier seems to be the best option for both myself and my 8 month old son. I wear him around the house as I do chores. He is close to me and gets to see everything I do. But, since he is in a backpack carrier and not a front carrier, I’m wondering if my style of carrier will still count toward the positive theory of attachment parenting.
