I have asked around and people say you get a ton of “all of a sudden energy”, but are there any other things that happen to you the last week of pregnancy, like cramps, absentmindedness. I just am so anxious and want to know when she is gonna pop out! I am at 37 weeks and can harldy wait anymore.
What did you know, or THINK you knew, about pregnancy (mood swings, what you could or could not eat/do, etc…)?
What did you know, or THINK you knew, about basic infant care (how to change a diaper, nursing, naps, etc…)?
What did you know, or THINK you knew, about parenting (child development, discipline, schooling, etc…)?
Are you the type of parent who typically does a lot of research into parenting practices, or the type of parent who just figures it out on your own?
I suppose this would be considered the “solution” to the teen pregnancy problem. And yes, I am aware of constitutional impediments to restricting procreation and religious opposition to birth control in general. Thoughts?

OK, let’s do this. Some of the ridiculous things I’ve heard in the last few days alone are prompting me to question how far behind the general public really is on foster care/adoption issues.
What are some major misconceptions you have noticed recently, either on this forum, or in “real life”?
I need help with coming up with research questions for my research paper about teen parenting or teen pregnancy. Can you people help me?
I’ve noticed such an overall decline in parenting standards in the last 10 to 15 years (as evidenced by what I’ve noticed to be a real growth in poorly behaved children and blasé parental response and proactiveness).
I’ve read that this might in part be due to everythign from a post 9-11 ‘baby spike’ to the decline of the nuclear family.
But as I look around at these poorly behaved children, and declining moral values amongst tween and teens .. if in fact children are our future – what can we do to ensure better quality leaders of tomorrow..?
If the fault lies in poor parenting – what can we do to fix this problem?
more government intervention? cash incentives? parent licensing? mandetory parent re-education? free public early childhood education (preschool)?

As a mother, I am always reading about parenting. My husband has been feeling a little guilty about not learing about parenting as much as me, and wants a good book for Dads. Anyone know of any that are full of practical information about raising children. yet based on good sound psychology and child development?

I have read “What to expcet when expecting” but I want to hear it from real women who have different ideas and have seen things in a different way. I want to know more about my adoption. My parents have never kept it a secret or avoided talking about it really but I would like to know what information, if any, they had about me, etc.
How do I go about asking them? I feel like they will think I am not happy with them which is DEFINATELY not it. I just would like to know more.
