How Was Your Second Pregnancy And Delivery Different From Your First?

I have a 20 month old. Just took an EPT and it appears to be positive, that I’m pregnant (sssshhhhh). So I’m wondering, how is the second pregnancy and delivery different from the first, and how is it having two little ones instead of one? How can I prepare myself?

I just gave birth to my second child almost 3 months ago. My first child will be 4 in December. It is not as bad as you would think having 2 kids. My daughter is very helpful and she loves her little brother to peices!!! The second pregnancy went by very slow and was not much different than my first except that this one was a scheduled c-section and my first was an emergency. YOu can get overwhelmed with taking both children out sometimes, and night feedings are never great, neither is lack of sleep. But you already know that from the first pregnancy. You cant really prepare, just accept mentally that there will be 2 little ones instead of one. Good luck and enjoy your pregnancy!!

It’s going to be differant for everyone. Generally, second pregnancy’s have shorter labors, probably close to half of what you got the first time. Babys are generally bigger the second time around, my second was 5 oz more 3rd one was 7 oz more than the second. I think a second baby is a breeze. It’s so great to see how your first reacts to the baby, its the 3rd baby when life gets crazy! You already know what to expect and what to do. What you (really) need and what you (really) dont need. The only downside is you cant relax while your pregnant in the same way you did with baby number 1, youve got a little person to take care of, pregnant or not! But you’ll be ok. It’s so fun to talk about babys with your first, theyre so curious, even at 2.

Well for me I figure my delivery will be the same (c-section). You will be more tired with two around, maybe. Read as much as you can on it to prepare yourself. I suggest what to expect the toddler years. They go over second and subsequent siblings, potty training etc.

My second labor was four hours shorter than the first one. However, the postpartum was even worse. I ran a fever and was sick for ten days of every month for six months. It would be good if you can have someone watch the babies regularly for you so you could nap.
