How Long After A Miscarriage Does A Pregnancy Test Still Be Positive?

A close friend of mine has had a miscarriage but tried a pregnancy test and it was positive. Is this normal?

  1. Suze - mummy to Dylan and Elina Says:

Yes, quite normal. It takes a while for the pregnancy hormone to die down. How long that takes depends on how far along the pregnancy is.
I had a miscarriage at 9.5 weeks and got positive tests for 5.5 weeks afterwards. Had another miscarriage at 6.5 weeks and got positive tests for about 3 weeks afterwards.

Depending on how far along you are the pregnancy hormone can still be in your system for a full month after miscarriage.

The hormone is still there. I’m so sorry for your friends loss!!
