How Far Into Her Pregnancy Will A Pregnant Guinea Pig’s Hip Bones Start To Separate?
When her hips separate, how many weeks/days are left of her pregnancy? We got a pregnant piggie from a store and I can’t find much about it online. She’s about five months old.
I’m not talking about when the bones are as wide as they’ll get. How far into the pregnancy will they just begin to separate?

Sows can vary but if you have been checking her bones regularly you may just be able to detect them starting to part 7-8 days before birth. The bones will stay wide open for the last 24-48 hours of pregnancy.
If the sow has had a previous litter it can all happen fairly quickly. If it is a first time mum the bones seem to have been opening forever and she will keep you waiting!

No one actually knows a precise time for when that should happen but having seen a guinea pig give birth a lot i should say about 42 days after she got pregnant if you know when she did that is.
