I have looked under the clerk of courts but have found nothing on the adoption. Is there some place else to look?

I don’t think you can as I don’t believe its considered public record.

Actually I DO think adoptions are public…at least adoptions through the state are (aka when a child is adopted through foster care). I am not sure about private adoptions. I would suggest contacting the social worker for that case if you have that information or you could try calling the COUNTY in which the adoption took place and ask them if the records are public and, if so, where you can find them.

You can check with the court clerk of that county in your state. Another place to check is with the attorney/agency that is being used. Another place is to check with the Vital Statistics department

in adoption cases you have to go to court and sign your rights away, up to 48 hours later the adoption has been finalized. For the fact that i feel that you arn’t part of the adoption process and you are just wanting to know if somebody did it or not you won’t find out. Its not public records, the only way to find out is if you go to the attorny she/he had, but the attorny isn’t allowed to give any info out, unless the birth mother gave permisson prior to this
